Emerie was a client of North Kensington Law Centre, in this guest blog he shares how support from the law centre helped him have faith through a difficult time.
My name is Emerie and North Kensington Law Centre has helped me through a difficult and stressful time. I found the Law Centre through my connection with Annie who worked at the previous centre that was dealing with my case. But it was at the North Kensington Law Centre that I really got to know her, and I have been blessed to have had her as my lawyer – the kindest of souls – throughout my case. It made it easier for me having been through abuse, pain and so much that I went through and am still going through. I felt like Annie was a friend first, someone who’s interested in the journey you have been on and also has the ability to help make things easier and better for you.
After a meeting with her I always left with a smile on my face.
That’s what I like most about the Law Centre – it almost felt like you are a family, a home. They made me feel they are ready to hear my problems and help me and work together to solve them. You know they are on your side and will do whatever they can to make your problem better. All of a sudden I felt like I wasn’t alone any more.
The Law Centre has taken a big weight off my shoulders. It made me feel more confident, more positive, that someone’s got my back. I feel like I am not alone now and whatever challenge I face I can fight back with confidence because the Law Centre is there for me.
Having access to legal support made me able to have faith. Some people could be going through many more problems than they’ll present to you, having legal aid is a big positive to help you deal with these challenges. Meeting the kindest people helps to make you feel in a much better healthy state.
The Law Centre team should be very proud of the work they have done because we truly appreciate all they do for us. We might not have the ability to show it, but in our hearts we are truly happy that people like them are there and I think everyone should know the importance of having access to a local Law Centre. I am very grateful and I wish I could do more to express this than words but I pray, bless all of you for what you do. Thank you so much.
